Meeting
SUBJECT: UFOs Over California
SPEAKER: Preston Dennett
ABSTRACT:
California is the leading state in the nation for UFO reports with more than 5000 UFO sighting cases. Our Golden State has also been the location of some of the world's most important encounters. Taking this into consideration, Preston Dennett has personally researched and documented over 100 CA UFO encounters. The result of his extensive studies is a new book UFOs Over California. This book is a historical compilation of UFO events in CA. These events were collected from books, journals, TV and radio plus firsthand interviews by the author. The book is mostly chronological with the cases grouped by type and ranging from CE 1 and CE 2 to contact type cases and encounters. Some of the exciting accounts in this lecture will be taken from among chapter headings such as for example:
- Early Sightings--1942 Battle of LA
- CA Airship Mystery
- Major CA AF Base Sightings
- Accounts of Underwater UFOs
- Contactees of the 1950s
- Celebrity Sightings
- CA UFO Waves
- UFO Healing Cases
- Classic CA Cases
- Hard Evidence of UFOs (Alien Implants)
- Photos of UFOs Over CA
BIO:
Preston Dennett first began studying UFOs in 1986 when he discovered that his family, friends, and coworkers were having numerous dramatic encounters. He is a Field Investigator for MUFON and a member of many other UFO organizations. He has investigated cases of every type as a result of having interviewed almost 1,000 witnesses. Some of his cases have been referrals by the police. Preston is the author of eight books and more than 100 articles. He is the author of The UFO Epidemic, UFO Healings-True Accounts of People Healed by ETs, and UFOs Over Topanga Canyon. His research has been presented in The LA Times and LA Daily News. Coming to a Theatre Near You -- June 29 is the date set for the debut of the summer movie spectacular War of the Worlds starring Tom Cruise. A preview one week before the opening date revealed lots of excitement, commotion, and noisy crowds in this movie. Previous movies by Steven Spielberg such as ET and Close Encounters of the Third Kind revealed a more friendly, benign ET ultimately inspiring optimism. Now the theme is fear. The invaders now cause destruction and initial despair. The date 9/11 readily comes to mind. Although Spielberg's aliens are fantasy, they represent a fear all too real. Spielberg says regarding the aliens, "They are a wake-up call to face our fears as we confront a force intent on destroying our way of life." H.G. Wells was the author in 1898 of the book War of the Worlds. Orson Welles produced a radio adaptation of the book in 1938 with his broadcast from a New York radio station. Listeners who did not hear that it was a fictional broadcast fled their homes and displayed panic.
Shooting Down UFOs? -- Yes, this topic has resurfaced once again after some years of conjecture over this possibility. Recently in April of this year Linda Howe lectured to So.CA UFO groups regarding this topic. She stated that New Mexico State Representative Andrew Kissner had informed her via leaked government info from unofficial military and intelligence testimony about the shooting down of UFOs. This policy was allegedly in place from the late 40s to the early 1950s. When retaliation by the UFOs occurred together with the loss of pilot's lives, such an aggressive policy was cancelled by this country. Recently in the MUFON UFO Journal Stanton Friedman wrote about the topic of US fighter planes engaging UFOs. He told of being much more aware lately of the enormous number of cases in the 1951-1954 time frame. Stan states, " I can only wonder how many planes were destroyed by the UFOs after the planes had tried to attack the alien intruders." Let's stay tuned for future developments relative to this topic.
New MUFON Database -- Some members of MUFON-SD and visitors to our website have expressed interest in sharing their UFO sightings with others. Also they hoped to locate other UFO witnesses to these events in the same time frame. Now most of these wishes will be incorporated in the just released new MUFON database. Known as MUFON CMS (Case Management System) this new database replaces the former WUFOD (Worldwide UFO Database). As CMS begins to start operation now, UFO sighting witnesses can access the database through www.mufon.org and file their reports as well as check the database.
May Lecture on Project Beta -- MUFON-SD wishes to thank Greg Bishop for a most interesting and informative presentation. The role of disinformation and its magnitude in the UFO field was the central theme of Project Beta. One should now be more aware of the place of disinformation in our everyday world. The San Diego Union Tribune for Saturday, June18, 2005 referred to a "media project known as the Office of Strategic Influence, ended in 2002 after major newspapers reported that it was contemplating 'information warfare" in friendly as well as unfriendly countries, including the planting of false information."
Book Exchange at Meetings -- A MUFON-SD member has proposed that members and guests at our meetings conduct a book exchange. In other words those people who wish to study the UFO subject more thoroughly can bring duplicate copies of UFO books for exchange or trade with others. Also books could be sold or purchased. The same would apply for videos. We shall give this idea a trial at our July 17 meeting.
Anyone For a Summer Picnic and/or Sky Watch? -- We would need a suitable location such as Julian Desert Overlook or the Laguna Observatory or equivalent. Some members like the idea similar to what the Orion UFO Group and San Diego UFO Society enjoyed in previous years. With adequate interest it can happen. Our Treasury has funds to provide food and refreshments. Let's consider it at our July 17 meeting.
News of Sighting in SE El Cajon -- Ed McBride has acquired information regarding a Saturday evening June 18 sighting of a UFO in the vicinity of Dehesa Rd. and Vista Grande Drive. A witness observed a long cylindrical silver object which made an abrupt 90 degree turn and then headed straight down. Ed will be checking for further witnesses. He also plans to check with the media for any available additional info. Please forward new info to paul@n6rpf.com-us.net for possible posting on our website, The San Diego UFO Information Homepage at www.n6rpf.com-us.net/mufon.html Please access our website for up to date info on our meetings. Please remember that meetings are held every other month on the third Sunday with speakers guaranteed for future lecture meetings on Sept 18 and Nov 20 of this year. Our group maintains backup speakers in event of any disappointment by a scheduled speaker.
Book Department -- The new book by Paul Stonehill entitled UFO-USSR is an e-book read on an e-book reader. Please check out the e bookstore website at filamentbooks.com for further details. Stonehill maintains contacts associated with UFO research in Russia. Another recent book on the subject of remote viewing is by Paul Smith entitled Reading the Enemy's Mind Inside Star Gate-America's Psychic Espionage Program. Paul was recently the author of a remote viewing article in UFO Magazine for June/July 2005. This new book may be in your local library as it was recently checked out of the Carlsbad Library.
Miscellaneous -- The Agua Caliente Casino & Spa Casino in the Palm Springs area are using the abduction theme in their advertising. Their ad reads, "Player abducted by little green men returns with $82,300. This ad was published in The Desert Entertainer Magazine for June 2-8, 2005. And for light humor as published in Red Licorice Magazine--Candy for the Brain under Blonde Jokes p.2 is Q: What do UFOs and smart blondes have in common? A: You keep hearing about them, but never see any. (No offense intended for all smart blondes)
